When you arrive at the airport, we will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel. Check the information boards at the hotel reception for details about the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travelers.
We invite you to join our full-day tour where we will explore the famous pyramids of Khufu, Kefren and Micerinos, as well as the rock-carved Sphinx. Entrance ticket to the pyramids is not included. We will also visit the Egyptian Museum with its ancient art and the treasure of the lost tomb of Tutankhamun. Lunch will be included. Then, we will discover the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabaster Mosque. Finally, we will take a walk in the Coptic quarter where we can visit the hanging church built above a Roman fortress.
We will leave Cairo early to discover an Egypt that you have certainly never imagined: a country of large lakes in the middle of the desert! Our first stop will be at the PYRAMID OF MEIDUM, believed to be the first pyramid built by the ancient Egyptians 2600 years ago BC. Its stepped structure will certainly surprise us. We can go up to the access door to the burial chamber and admire the large mastabas housing the tombs of the pharaoh's relatives. Next, we will visit the Al Fayoum oasis, where we will describe the large QARUM lake which irrigates the entire region and is nicknamed "the garden of Egypt". The shores of the lake offer many leisure activities to Egyptians. Al Fayoum is also famous for "the Al Fayoum portraits", the oldest portraits in the world, currently on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
We will stop at the village of TUNIS for lunch and admire the magnificent ceramic handicrafts. Next, we will delve into the impressive desert landscapes and stop at WADI RAYYAN, a saltwater lake home to rare species of birds and gazelles, a nature reserve. We will have the opportunity to walk near the small falls. Our adventure will continue towards the WADI AL HITTAN compound, known as the "Valley of the Whales", declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The quantity, concentration and quality of the fossils, as well as their location in a landscape of great beauty, make this site an exceptional place. We can visit the fossilized whale museum and learn more about climate change. Finally, we will arrive in MENIA, a city of 300,000 inhabitants located on the banks of the Nile, where we can enjoy a pleasant walk along the river. Dinner is included.
We begin another exciting day in the center of the Nile Valley. Leaving Menia we stop at ZAWIYYET SULTAN, place of the dead, at the foot of a small pharaonic necropolis, an immense cemetery with the very particular architecture of vaulted adobe mausoleums makes us feel "in another world". After that we visit BENI HASSAN, the necropolis stands on the cliffs above the Nile valley, 39 tombs (four are visited) dating from 2125 to 1795 BC and offer us a fascinating insight into life daily life of that time. Lunch included. Following the Nile valley we stop at the TOMBS OF MIR, with its nine tombs from the Old and Middle Kingdom open to visitors. The solitude of the place is impressive (practically without tourism). Next to the tombs we visit DEIR AL MUHARRAQ, a Coptic monastery and place of pilgrimage, the monks indicate that Mary and Jesus lived in a cave in this place for six months after fleeing Herod; according to tradition the church was built around the year 60 "the oldest Christian church in the world". Continue to ASSIUT, provincial capital. Dinner included.
We leave Assiut for SOHAG, one of the main Coptic regions of Egypt. Our first destination is the WHITE MONASTERY, built in the 4th century and surrounded by powerful walls. This monastery uses stone from pharaonic temples, with some blocks still displaying ancient gods and hieroglyphs. At that time, it housed the largest library in Egypt. Next, we will visit the RED MONASTERY, one of the most impressive Christian buildings in Egypt. Its 4th century chapel, decorated with restored frescoes, offers a glimpse of the religious buildings of Antiquity. Our route will continue towards ABYDOS, a major place of worship dedicated to Osiris, the God of the dead. This site has been a place of pilgrimage and necropolis for more than 4,500 years. The temple of Seti, particularly remarkable, will also be visited. Finally, we will arrive in LUXOR at the end of the day.
During our stay in Luxor, we will have the opportunity to discover one of the most fascinating ancient cities on the planet. In the morning, from our hotel, we will take a private boat to cross the Nile, enjoying its tranquility and impressive views. We will then head to the west bank, where we will visit the "Valley of the Artisans" Deir el-Medina, a little-visited place housing the tombs of great builders and artisans of ancient Egypt. After that, we will discover the magnificent temple of Medinet Habu, dedicated to the pharaoh Ramses II. We will also stop in front of the Colossi of Memnon, two impressive statues of Amenhotep II. Then, we will visit the Valley of the Queens, where the temple of Queen Hatshepsut is located, considered the first female pharaoh. Next, we will explore the famous Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of the main pharaohs are hidden. We will also have the opportunity to visit Karnak, with its immense temple of Amun-Ra, as well as the Luxor Museum, which houses an impressive collection of objects and mummies discovered in the region. Finally, we will have the chance to discover the Luxor Temple illuminated at nightfall, and to stroll through the neighboring souk. Please note that the order of tours may vary depending on weather conditions and crowds at different sites.
In the morning we will have free time to stroll, shop or visit Luxor. Around 11:00 we will depart for Dendera, one of the best preserved Egyptian complexes. This place remained buried under sand and mud until its discovery in the mid-19th century.
Denderah is impressive with its 40,000 square meter enclosure surrounded by a sturdy brick wall eight to ten meters high. Its immense walls and doors will not fail to surprise. It is a temple dedicated to Hathor, goddess of love and fertility.
After the visit, lunch is included, then we will continue our journey to the Red Sea. Our highway will pass through desert mountain ranges, offering interesting landscapes. We will arrive in Hurghada late in the afternoon. It is Egypt's most popular resort, with hotels stretching across a strip of almost 50 kilometers.
We will be accommodated at the hotel on an all-inclusive basis.
The day will begin with free time in the morning, allowing you to take advantage of our hotel's facilities to relax or freely visit the large aquarium or the Hurghada Museum.
After the included lunch, we will go on an excursion to discover more of the region. We will visit EL GOUNA, a luxurious holiday town in Egypt located a short distance from Hurghada. You can enjoy the many canals and lagoons accessible by yacht, as well as stroll through this exclusive location.
Next, we will stop near the mosque in the center of Hurghada (which we will have the opportunity to visit), then we will walk towards the marina, a lively tourist area full of shops and restaurants. You will have free time to explore this place.
At the end of the day, we will return to our hotel. Remember that you are staying on an all-inclusive basis, so you will be able to enjoy all the services and facilities offered.
Following the Red Sea, we discovered two impressive Coptic monasteries: Saint-Antoine and Saint-Paul. These monasteries, dating from the 4th century, are considered the oldest in Christianity. Nestled at the foot of the Red Sea Mountains, they are surrounded by barren mountains and mighty walls. Saint-Paul Monastery amazed us with its orchards, palm trees and 4th century cave/church with simple wall paintings. Then we visited the monastery of Saint-Antoine, also fortified, with its adobe buildings and its atmosphere frozen in time. Its church houses magnificent Coptic wall paintings from the 13th century. After this moving experience, we traveled to El Galala, where we were surprised by the new cities being built in the Egyptian desert. We visited a luxury beachfront resort, complete with a marina and water park, then took the cable car, the highest slope in Africa, to reach the new town of El Galala. This beautifully designed city is home to a major university. We then arrived in Cairo at the end of the day
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and end of our services.
