Paris, its capital, is famous for its fashion houses, its classical art museums including the Louvre and its monuments such as the Eiffel Tower. Italy, a European country with a long Mediterranean coastline, has left a strong mark on Western culture and cuisine. Its capital, Rome, is home to the Vatican as well as ancient works of art and ruins.
When you arrive at the airport, we will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel. Check the information boards at the hotel reception for details about the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travelers.
Early in the morning, we will leave for Versailles, the immense palace of the kings of France. After that, we will return to Paris at lunchtime where we will provide a transfer to the Montmartre district. We will take the funicular up to the hill and admire the spectacular view of Paris from the top. This neighborhood is known for its painters, artists and cabarets… Sit down to lunch and enjoy a
Magical atmosphere. Then, a panoramic guided tour to discover the history, grand boulevards and breathtaking monuments of Paris will take place. Return to the hotel. Optionally, you can attend a variety show.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY: Eiffel Tower and boat cruise in the City of Lights. We head towards the center of Paris starting with the Eiffel Tower district. You will have the opportunity to go up to the second floor of this remarkable metal monument (ticket included). Next, we will enjoy a boat cruise on the Seine, which separates the north of Paris from the south. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore at your leisure.
Today we travel to the center of France, to the Burgundy region, famous for its wines. Stop at SEMUR EN AUXOIS, a small listed medieval town surrounded by impressive walls. After that, we will visit BEAUNE, located in the center of Burgundy, with its streets full of flowers, its hospice and its wine museum, all points of interest. Continuing our route, we will arrive in the middle of the afternoon in LYON, capital of Roman Gaul on the banks of the Rhône (its historic center has been declared a world heritage site). We include a funicular ride up to Notre Dame de Fourvière where we have a superb view of the city. Enjoy some free time to stroll. Some of the groups will be hosted in Chambéry, a town near Lyon. In these cases, we will leave at the end of the afternoon for CHAMBERY and accommodation. We will then have some time early in the morning to visit the capital of Savoy, a medieval-style town with a beautiful historic center and a large castle.
Arrival in GENEVA. The guide will take us to the Palais des Nations (the European headquarters of the United Nations), the magnificent “English Garden” (with its picturesque flower clock) and the “Jet d'Eau”, the tallest fountain in Europe. After lunch, we will continue our journey through Switzerland via the magnificent Lakes Geneva and Neuchâtel. We will take the scenic route along the three great lakes, with their magnificent vineyards overlooking the mountains. We will stop at NEUCHÂTEL, where you can enjoy a walk by the lake, the historic city center or visit its beautiful 10th century castle. We will then head to ZURICH. Arrival late in the afternoon. Please note: depending on the number of passengers traveling from Geneva to Zurich, this part of the journey may be made by train, in which case there will be no stop in Neuchâtel.
The City of Banks has twice been declared the city with the best quality of life in the world. Next, we will include an almost two-hour cruise on Lake Zurich. The boat makes brief stops to allow us to see the villages along the way. We descend to RAPPERSWILL, a small picturesque village dominated by its medieval castle. We return to Zurich by train and appreciate the efficiency and punctuality of the Swiss railways. Please note: Depending on the number of travelers, transfers to the center and from the station can be made by public transport.
Today's trip offers beautiful scenery with high mountains and lakes. Breathtaking landscapes in the Interlaken region. We will stop at GRINDELWALD where we will have time for a coffee before taking the cable car up to the mountain. We will walk along the winding path which will take us to the suspension bridge. Dare to cross the bridge in the middle of fantastic landscapes enjoying the glaciers all around us. We will have lunch in the mountains (included) before going back down. We continue towards LUCERNE, one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland. In the evening we have time to stroll and enjoy the city. Return to ZURICH and free time in the city before returning to the hotel. Please note: The guide will offer you the possibility of an optional full-day tour, departing in the morning and, after a little free time to discover Lucerne, we will take a rotating cable car to reach the summit of Mount Titlis. At the Alpine summit, more than 3000 m above sea level, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the glacier and the Alps.
We will leave Zurich early in the morning and cross the Alps to reach Italian Switzerland. Along the way we will see beautiful lakes and snow-capped mountains. LUGANO. Arrival in the cosmopolitan capital of Italian Switzerland built on the edge of its magnificent lake. It's time to take a walk and have lunch. We will then reach the charming little town of MORCOTE, famous for its flowery stone houses. We will then go to Italy. Arrival in MILAN where the guide will take us to the impressive Duomo Square. There you will find a variety of local and international restaurants to dine at. Transfer to the hotel.
Today we continue our journey to PISA. In a small tourist train we will head to Piazza Dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), where we will have time to admire one of the most alluring and beautiful artistic complexes in Italy, including the famous Leaning Tower from Pisa. Then we continue to ROME, where we arrive at the end of the day.
In the morning we will take a panoramic tour which will be an excellent introduction to “The Eternal City”. We will visit the small state of the Vatican, the epicenter of Christianity in the world. You can visit St. Peter's Basilica. We include entry to the Imperial Forums, an impressive architectural complex of monumental buildings and squares, the center of imperial Rome's political activity. At the end of the evening, we organize a transfer to the Trastevere district for a stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets. A neighborhood with hidden treasures, such as some modest medieval churches, small shops with the most unusual objects or scenes from everyday life. Numerous trattorias (informal Italian dining establishments) and osterias (inns) imbued with the Italian spirit will be ready to serve you local dishes. Other restaurants serving Indian, Chinese and international cuisine can be found in this area. Return to the hotel. Note: On many occasions during the low season, as well as on specific dates throughout the rest of the year, instead of the entrance to the Imperial Forums, we will enter the Roman Colosseum, the symbol of Rome.
Today we will leave Rome heading north. This route presents beautiful landscapes. Arriving in FLORENCE, we head straight to the impressive Piazzale Michelangelo. In the evening, we will take a tour with a local expert, traveling through the historic center and visiting places such as the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo and the Plaza della Signoria. This city is truly an open-air museum. Enjoy some free time to explore. In the evening, you will have time to dine as in this area you will find many restaurants serving international cuisine.
Today we enjoy stunning mountain scenery as we drive through the Apennine Mountains. We will arrive in VENICE and take the boat and cross the Giudecca to the island of Venice. With a local guide, we will visit the wonderful St. Mark's Square and enter the Basilica (entrance included). Then we will visit the Murano glassworks. It is fascinating to see the technique of making this ancient glass. Enjoy some free time to explore. Accommodation in the Mestre district.
